Non-employed Apprentices
This means that you do not have a permanent job, but are doing work experience with an employer. Non-employed apprentices are able to apply for EMA under the same conditions as full-time students.
Training for apprentices is a mixture of on-the-job training (doing work experience with an employer) and off- the- job (doing relevant courses and a qualification).
Training lasts from one to three years – depending on what you do.
- From 6th April 2011, all apprentices will be employed and earn a wage.
